Dear Dad...

Hey, Dad!
Happy Birthday. I hope you have a great one in heaven. Wow! I can't believe that you would be forty. You're old. I ate some chocolate for you. So, did God bake you a cake and have the angels sing to you? That would be cool. I wish you were here so I could throw you a party. I would make you red velvet cake and raw cookie dough (and you could steal as much as you wanted from mom).
Have a great day! Happy birthday, oldie!

Lots of love,
Hannah Grace

I wonder what he wished for when he blew out the candles?

Chills and tears over this beautiful birthday wish. For reals! I love you and I'm mad that you made me cry. (btw, Betz has a phenomenal red velvet recipe, you should get it from her).

Your friend,
Robert

Hey Hannah, I found your blog through a mutual friend of ours: Craig Nash. I used to live in Waco and went to church with Craig (and many others!) at UBC.

I wish you the best in school and life and look forward to reading more of your blogs!

Peace,
Ann Pittman

Hi, Hannah. I also found you through Craig. You remind me a lot of my daughter, Grace, who is now 23. Like you, she's always had a big-picture view of life--keeping the future in mind while living each day to its fullest. And like you, she experienced heart-breaking loss as a pre-teen. I worried about her a lot then, but God took that pain and shaped her into one of the wisest, most caring and beautiful souls I know. You sound like you're well on your way to the same results.

I love your list of possible things to be when you grow up. I'll tell you a secret. You don't have to choose one over another. In my adult life I've been a teacher, professional choreographer, published writer, performing musician, and a speaker. I still do all these things (except teach school), and I love the colorful variety of my life.

Go for your dreams, Hannah. I imagine your dad is amongst the cloud of witnesses cheering you on.

Hannah-

I just found your blog on Craig's blog. I'm so excited. Your Dad's birthday was two days before my Dad's. He would have been 67 this year. I think you have a great way of remembering. Thanks for taking such good care of all our friends in Waco. I wish I would have been there longer with you guys.

Love,
Janalee
